Colorado

We went on our first vacation ever with Mark last week. We drove up to Winter Park, Colorado and stayed a week at my sister's condo. We met some of our college friends from Texas and really enjoyed escaping the horrific heat in Tulsa and Waco. Our most common description of Mark other than sweet pea is "trooper" and boy did he live up to it this trip. Fourteen hours in the car is no fun for anyone but especially if you are facing backwards and strapped in the exact same position the whole time! He really did great though and chewed on everything I could find to entertain him with!

We walked into town the first day there and ate a hearty breakfast at our favorite local bakery. We needed to walk off our huge meal so we walked around town looking at the shops. Mark was getting pretty sleepy but enjoyed his birds-eye view from John's shoulders.

I managed to get sick (food poisoning) one day and spent almost the entire morning in bed (or in the bathroom). Don't ever eat a chicken-salad sandwich at a little bakery in Granby, Colorado!! But that afternoon we went out for a little hike behind the condo and the fresh air made me feel so much better!

On that same hike John and Mark paused here to point out the bear claw scratches on a pine tree. You can't see in the picture but they go pretty darn high! Don't ever think you can get away from a bear by climbing a tree--- thats the moral of this story! Anyway I LOVE this picture because John and Mark have the EXACT same expression on their faces! Priceless.

The last day of our vacation there was a huge mountain bike competition at the ski resort. I'm not really into mountain biking but the day we were there they were having their "Big Air" competition. Can you see this guy upside-down after his jump? It was pretty impressive the stunts they could do on their bikes!
